About FancyPickle
I'm Jim, and I'm still fairly new to pickleball myself. FancyPickle started because I was doing what most people reading this are doing: trying to work out which paddle, shoes and gear are worth buying, how the rules really work, and where to find a game, without wading through marketing copy or an afternoon of forum threads.
The promise on the homepage is the whole idea: find your court, find your people, enjoy your game.
What you'll find here
- Rules explained simply, plus focused guides on singles rules and court etiquette.
- Gear guides for beginners: starter gear, shoes, paddle weight and indoor vs. outdoor balls.
- Practice help: beginner drills and wall drills.
- Where to play: a regional layer that lists courts and open play near you, starting with the Hampton Roads area, including a guide to indoor pickleball around Williamsburg.
How guides are made
- Facts in the rules and etiquette guides come from named sources, mainly the current USA Pickleball rulebook, and each guide lists them at the bottom.
- Gear picks are built around what a beginner needs. Read how we make money and how we choose.
- Local listings are checked against the facility's or city's own published information, and we date them.
- Found a mistake? Tell us and we'll check it against the source.
